The City of Durant, a Certified City, is the regional service area for a five county area populated by 80,000 people.  Durant is proud to be home to the Southeastern Storm, a.k.a. Southeastern Oklahoma State University, a four-year regional college specializing in education, business and applied sciences.  SOSU enhances our rural setting by providing quality musical productions including the renowned Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival, Aviation Program and NCAA Division II athletes.  Located about 10 miles from Durant is Southeastern Oklahoma’s center for outdoor recreation, Lake Texoma, home to world class Striper fishing.  In addition, top-quality golf, hunting and water skiing are keen interests of many residents and visitors.  Durant’s high quality and affordable family valued lifestyle is located a convenient 90 miles north of Dallas on interstate 75 and 150 miles southeast and south from both Oklahoma City and Tulsa, respectively.
